Helen studied Fine Art in the 1970’s and gained a specialist diploma in design and embroidery in the 1980’s. She has taught life drawing and art, mainly to adults.
The figure in movement became one of her favourite areas of interest. ‘Movement fascinates me and continues to be something which runs through my work. I want there to be a feeling of life in my works even in the more abstract paintings.’
For the past 20 years Helen has been concerned about the changes happening to our planet and her work has reflected this.
‘During my life as an artist, I have moved from one style and medium to another as the mood or subject took me.
For me art is about conveying an idea, or evoking an emotion, and I use whichever media enables me to best express them.’
